The narrative of a medical student who became a software engineer.
Hi friends! I’m Victoria Nguyen, an ex-medical student turned software engineer. I created this page because very little information exist about how someone became who they are, and I have high hopes for myself in the future. It’s a little self-indulgent, but I wish that the lessons I’ve learned along the way of blending my insight from medical school with my journey into tech could inspire and inform someone else. Whether you’re a fellow career changer or just curious about the intersection of healthcare and software development, join me as I navigate this unique path, from scrubs to code.

Victoria Nguyen
Software Engineer (In Training) | Healthcare Administrator | U.S. Army
Raised in Southern California, Victoria Nguyen flew across the country to attend a historically black university, Howard University, in the capital of U.S., Washington, D.C. She originally sought to merge technology and medicine to become a disruptor in healthcare, attending 42 Silicon Valley, a computer science bootcamp, and pursuing 3 years of medical school at USUHS, but, along her journey, she realized that her skills are better suited for another path. Now, she is currently serving as a healthcare administrator in the army with the aim of pursuing a career that enables her to work remotely and travel.
